A day in the life of...

Van collection
The first step to getting you on the road as an FDL Delivery Driver is to collect your rental van from the fleet manager in your local work area. Fill out the Van Check Sheet and collect the keys.
Vehicle check
Health and safety is at the heart of what we do. Before beginning your route, complete the Vehicle Safety Check. Make sure you check: oil, coolant, screenwash, tyres, lights, and mirrors. Then get behind the wheel to test your hazard lights, horn and wipers. As you leave the fleet car park, test your brakes. You’re safe and good to go.

At the depot
With your high-visibility jacket, safety shoes and ID badge, you’ll find your allocated cages in the depot. Simply load the bags and parcels from the cage into your van in the order shown via the app. Return the cage to the warehouse and preview the route to your first drop. Now get out there and deliver the goods – and spread some smiles!

Deliveries
Along your route, you’ll encounter different types of deliveries. If no one appears to be home, complete a Sorry We Missed You card and put it through their letter box or somewhere safe and obvious, so they know where to retrieve their parcel on their return. For business addresses, find the receptionist, doorman or post room.
Done for the day!
Every parcel has been delivered safely and according to schedule, and your route is complete. Return any undelivered parcels to the depot and drop your van off at the rental lot. Together with the fleet manager, examine your van and complete a van check sheet. Sign on the dotted line and that’s it! Another great day delivering for FDL and your community.
